My 2 cents: Really Bad Idea

bad20toaster201

How bad of an idea is this?  Please tell us and him…

Rep. Wayne Krieger R- Gold Beach has sponsored a bill, # 3008.
If bill #3008 passes, it will require everyone who has a adult bicycle to register ALL their adult bicycles every 2 years at a cost of $54 per bicycle. How many bicycles do you have in your garage?

There are too many reasons why this is a bad idea. Please respond to this post with some of the reasons you think this bill is a bad bill. Also… PLEASE… call, e-mail, write, blog, Rep. Wayne Krieger to let him know you think this is a really bad idea.

His info is:

  1. So, I’ve heard about this bill too but I’m confused. What are they saying the revenue from bike registration will be used for? As far as I know the roads are already paid/maintained by annual taxes that most cyclists already pay. Also, how would they enforce it? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bike cop here in Eugene and I doubt they could catch me anyways :) What? are they gonna set up checkpoints on the bike paths?
